Notice of Vacancy for General George S. Patton School District 133 Board of Education
Effective immediately, the Board of Education is accepting applications to fill a vacancy resulting from an insufficient number of candidates in the April 2025 election. An application may be obtained at www.district133.org, at the Annex, 150 W 137th Street, Riverdale, IL, or by request at [email protected]. Completed applications may be turned in or mailed to the District Office, 150 W. 137th Street, Riverdale, IL 60827 or emailed to [email protected], attention: Ms. Alisia Hill, Board President.
Any interested applicants for vacancy must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for appointment: (1) be a United States Citizen (2) be at least 18 years of age (3) have been a resident of the District for at least 1 calendar year prior to the date of appointment, (4) be a registered voter. A copy of the District’s legal boundaries can be made available upon request. In addition to these requirements, an eligible appointee shall not be a current school trustee, shall not have been removed from a school board pursuant to Section 2-3.25f-5 of the Illinois School Code (unless subsequently appointed as a member of an Independent Authority or if it has been 10 years since the abolition of the Independent Authority in the district), and shall not be a convicted child sex offender or be convicted of an infamous crime as defined by Illinois law. It is desirable that applicants show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, and the ethics and gift ban. The deadline for submitting an application is Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. After reviewing the applications, the Board may invite the prospective applicants for personal interviews to be conducted during a duly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education.
